DISTRICT 51P MARKETING EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2009-2010

µ These NEW District 51 Awards will be presented within
District 51P - Peninsula Malaysia


µ The normal TI Marketing Awards (Smedley, Talk Up
Toastmasters!, Beat the Clock and Individual Member Sponsors) will continue to be presented by TI using criteria announced by TI each year



The overall objectives of these NEW District 51P Awards are:



ü
to recognize and reward Excellence and Effort in marketing and membership activities within District 51P

ü to provide a means of motivating Toastmasters in Peninsula Malaysia to generate new Members and create new Clubs
ü to help to retain existing members and revive ailing Clubs
ü to find ways to recognize and reward Members and Clubs who perform well and achieve good results in these key areas of marketing

AWARDS FOR CLUBS


1) EARLY-BIRD MARKETING AWARD

a) Description
To recognize the marketing efforts of ALL Toastmasters Clubs during the FIRST month of the new Toastmasters Year

b) Criteria

i) The largest NET percentage increases in Club membership during the period from 1 July 2009 to 31 July 2009 will be calculated, but there must be a NET increase of minimum 5% of membership in the Club during this period. Membership figures (new members, dual members, reinstated members, membership resignations) recorded by TI through to 31 July 2009 will be taken into account in making these Awards. For Clubs chartering after 1 July 2009, THEIR base figure for comparison purposes will be the total number of CHARTER members registered with TI
ii) Awards will be made to the top THREE Clubs in Peninsula Malaysia with the largest NET percentage increases in Club membership during
the period from 1 July 2009 to 31 July 2009
iii) Eligibility for THIS Award will be for any Club which is “in good standing” on 31 July 2009iv) In the event of any dispute of membership numbers on 1 July 2009 or on 31 July 2009, the official figures quoted on the TI website will be accepted as being accurate

c) How to Submit?
There is no need to make a submission to receive this Award – all the relevant membership statistics will be monitored at District 51P level and Awards announced accordingly. Membership figures (new members, dual members, reinstated members, membership resignations) recorded by TI through to 31 July 2009 will be taken into account in making these Awards

2) MID-TERM MARKETING AWARD

a) Description

o recognize the marketing efforts of ALL Toastmasters
Clubs during the period from 1 October 2009 to 31 January 2010

Criteria
i)The largest NET percentage increases in Club membership during the period from 1 October 2009 to 31 January 2010 will be calculated, but there must be a NET increase of minimum 5% of membership in the Club during this period. For Clubs chartering after 1 October 2009, THEIR base figure for comparison purposes will be the total number of CHARTER members registered with TI
ii)
Awards will be made to the top THREE Clubs in Peninsula Malaysia with the largest NET percentage increases in Club membership during the period from 1 October 2009 to 31 January 2010
iii) Eligibility for THIS Award will be for any Club which is “in good standing” on 31 January 2010
iv) In the event of any dispute of membership numbers on 1 October 2009 to 31 January 2010, the official figures quoted on the TI website at 1 October 2009 and 31 January 2010 will be accepted as being accurate

3) APRIL MARKETING AWARD
a) Description
To recognize the marketing efforts of ALL Toastmasters
Clubs during the period from 1 April 2010 to 30 April 2010


b) Criteria

i) The largest NET percentage increases in Club membership during the period from 1 April 2010 to 30 April 2010 will be calculated, but there must be a NET increase of minimum 5% of membership in the Club during this period. For Clubs chartering after 1 April 2010, THEIR base figure for comparison purposes will be the total number of CHARTER members registered with TI
ii) Awards will be made to the THREE Clubs in Peninsula Malaysia with the largest NET percentage increases in Club membership during the period from 1 April 2010 to 30 April 2010
iii)
Eligibility for THIS Award will be for any Club which is “in good standing” on 30 April 2010
iv) In the event of any dispute of membership numbers on 1 April 2010 or 30 April 2010, the official figures quoted on the TI website on 1 April 2010 or 30 April 2010 will be accepted as being accurate

4) COMMUNITY CLUB MARKETING AWARD


a) Description

To recognize the marketing efforts of community Clubs

b) Criteria

i) The largest NET percentage increases in Club membership during the Toastmasters year from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010 will be calculated, but there must be a NET increase of minimum 10% of membership in
the Club during this period. For Clubs chartering after 1 July 2009, THEIR base figure for comparison purposes will be the total number of CHARTER members registered with TI

ii) Awards will be made to the top THREE Clubs in Peninsula Malaysia with the largest NET percentage increases in Club membership during the Toastmasters year from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010
iii) Eligibility for THIS Award will be for any COMMUNITY Club (as recognized in the TI database) which is “in good standing” on 30 June
2010

iv) In the event of any dispute of membership numbers on 1 July 2009 or on 30 June 2010, the official figures quoted on the TI website will be accepted as being accurate

c) How to Submit?

5) IN-HOUSE CLUB MARKETING AWARD

a) Description
To recognize the marketing efforts of in-house Clubs

b) Criteria

i) The largest NET percentage increases in Club membership during the Toastmasters year from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010 will be calculated, but there must be a NET increase of minimum 10% of membership in
the Club during the Toastmasters year from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010. For Clubs chartering after 1 July 2009, THEIR base figure for comparison purposes will be the total number of CHARTER members registered with TI
ii) Awards will be made to the top THREE Clubs in Peninsula Malaysia with the largest NET percentage increases in Club membership during the Toastmasters year from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010
iii) Eligibility for THIS Award will be for any IN-HOUSE Club (as recognized in the TI database) which is “in good standing” on 30 June
2010
iv) In the event of any dispute of membership numbers on 1 July 2009 or on 30 June 2010, the official figures quoted on the TI website will be accepted as being accurate

c) How to Submit?

6) SMALL-SIZE CLUB MARKETING AWARD

a) Description
To recognize the marketing efforts of smaller size Clubs which had 19 or fewer members on 1 July 2009

b) Criteria

i) The largest NET percentage increases in Club membership during the Toastmasters year from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010 will be calculated, but there must be a NET increase of minimum 10% of membership in the Club during this period. For Clubs chartering after 1 July 2009, THEIR base figure for comparison purposes will be the total number of CHARTER members with TI
ii) Awards will be made to the top THREE Clubs in Peninsula Malaysia with the largest NET percentage increases in Club membership during the Toastmasters year from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010
iii) Eligibility for THIS Award will be for any Club which had a BASE membership of 19 or fewer members on 1 July 2009 (as recognized in the TI database) which is “in good standing” on 30 June 2010
iv) In the event of any dispute of membership numbers on 1 July 2009 or on 30 June 2010, the official figures quoted on the TI website will be accepted as being accurate

c) How to Submit?

7) MANDARIN CLUB MARKETING AWARD

a) Description
To recognize the marketing efforts of Mandarin Clubs

b) Criteria

i) The largest NET percentage increases in Club membership during the Toastmasters year from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010 will be calculated, but there must be a NET increase of minimum 10% of membership in
the Club during this period. For Clubs chartering after 1 July 2009, THEIR base figure for comparison purposes will be the total number of CHARTER members registered with TI

ii) Awards will be made to the top THREE Mandarin Clubs in
Peninsula Malaysia with the largest NET percentage increases in Club membership during the Toastmasters year from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010

iii) Eligibility for THIS Award will be for any Mandarin Club
(as recognized in the TI database) which is “in good standing” on 30 June 2010

iv) In the event of any dispute of membership numbers on 1 July 2009 or on 30 June 2010, the official figures quoted on the TI website will be accepted as being accurate

c) How to Submit?

AWARDS FOR INDIVIDUALS

8) INDIVIDUAL MARKETING AWARD


a) Description
To recognize the marketing efforts of those Toastmasters who demonstrate Excellence above and beyond their normal Toastmaster duties by promoting membership.

b) Criteria

i) District Officers (including Area or Division Governors) are NOT eligible for these Awards
ii)
Toastmasters in good standing who personally sponsored new and/or reinstated members during the Toastmasters year from 1 July 2009 to
30 April 2010 will be calculated
iii)
Awards will be made to ALL Toastmasters in Peninsula Malaysia who personally sponsored 15 (FIFTEEN) new and/or reinstated members during
the Toastmasters year from 1 July 2009 to 30 April 2010 (Transfer and charter members do not count)
iv)
In the event of any dispute of membership numbers on 1 July 2009 or on 30 April 2010, the official figures quoted on the TI website will be accepted as being accurate

c) How to Submit?
There is no need to make a submission to receive this Award – all the relevant membership statistics will be monitored at District 51P level and Awards announced accordingly.Membership figures (new members, transferred members, reinstated members, membership resignations) recorded by TI through to 30 April 2010 will be taken into account in making these Awards

9) CLUB COACH AWARD

a) Description
To recognize the efforts of those Toastmasters who are officially appointed as a Club Coach to rescue an ailing Club

b) Criteria

i) District Officers (including Area or Division Governors) are NOT eligible for these Awards
ii) The nominee MUST have been appointed by the District Governor as a Club Coach and successfully supported and coached the Club through to minimum Charter strength during the Toastmasters year from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010
iii)
The club MUST have achieved Goals #7 & #8 in the Distinguished Club Program by 30 June 2010
iv)
The nominee MUST submit a working plan, latest within 1 month from the date of their appointment

c) How to Submit?

i) Toastmasters in good standing who satisfy the criteria above may nominate themselves
ii) OR another Toastmaster may nominate a Toastmaster in good standing who satisfies the criteria above

10) CLUB SPONSOR-MENTOR AWARD

a) Description
To recognize the efforts of those Toastmasters who are officially appointed as a Club Sponsor or Club Mentor to charter a new Club

b) Criteria

i) District Officers (including Area or Division Governors) are NOT eligible for these Awards
ii) The nominee MUST have been appointed by the District Governor as a Club Sponsor or Club Mentor
iii)
The nominee MUST personally have successfully sponsored a minimum of ONE new Toastmasters Club AND mentored a minimum of ONE new Toastmasters Club (OR mentored a minimum of TWO new Toastmasters Clubs)nduring the period from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010
iv)
The nominee MUST NOT have sponsored and mentored the same new Toastmasters Club
v)
The nominee MUST prove attendance at a MINIMUM of 75%
of the normal meetings of the Club(s) mentored successfully within a period of SIX months dating from the official Charter date of the Club(s) – evidence required will be a letter or form signed by the Club President or Vice President Membership listing the dates of meetings attended. (Form available on District 51P Marketing blog)
vi)
The number of members on 30 June 2010 MUST be not less than the number of charter members
vii)
In the event of any dispute of membership numbers on 1 July 2009 or on 30 June 2010, the official figures quoted on the TI websitewill be accepted as being accurate

i) Toastmasters in good standing who satisfy the criteria above may nominate themselves

Smedley Award
Program Dates: 1 August - 30 September 2009

Talk Up Toastmasters!
Program Dates: 1 February – 31 March 2010

During the "Talk Up Toastmasters!" membership contest, you can encourage your members to invite guests to a special meeting where regular procedures are augmented by a discussion of Toastmasters' many benefits. Add five new, dual or reinstated members to your roster between 1 February and 31 March 2010 to receive a special "Talk up Toastmasters!" ribbon to display on your club's banner. And, in addition to the ribbon, qualifying clubs will also earn a special discount code for 10% off their next club order.



Beat the Clock
Program Dates: 1 May – 30 June 2010

"Beat the Clock" is about finishing the year on schedule -with a bang! Here's a wonderful new club goal: Earn the "Beat the Clock" award! Plan a contest in your club to motivate every member to get involved. Program Dates: 1 July 2009 – 30 June 2010


Membership growth is important to ensure club success. As a sponsor of five new members, you will qualify to receive a unique sponsor's pin. As an outstanding sponsor of 10 new members, you will qualify to receive a special star pin. And, as a sponsor of 15 new members, you will qualify to receive a special discount code for 25% off your next product purchase from Toastmasters International World Headquarters. You've also made a significant contribution to your club's long-term success. To receive credit as a sponsor, your name must appear on the application for Toastmasters club membership (Item 400) along with your home club number. Please print or type information legibly. No changes can be made to the applications once they are received by World Headquarters. New, dual and reinstated members count for credit; transfer and charter members do not. The new members join dates must fall within the July to June range. All applications and payments must be received at World Headquarters no later than 30 June 2010.
